Sketches on the train and tube in March XI
View outside my window in Hotel at Cornwall
I had a break with my family at Cornwall last weekend as Ruth and Josh had their birthdays on the 28th and 29th of March respectively. I was too tired to really make the best of this trip as a sketching one, as I needed this break and also a bit of escape from Art, but managed to sketch this from my window on Saturday. It was a good refreshing time out and now I am back to face the reality of London life again!
It was done with a 3B mechanical Pencil in my A4 sketchbook.

Ornamented With Sushi, 5.5" x 8", Graphite on paper, 2009
This is my entry into Karin Juricks DSFDF,.
I have been so busy I had to get this one done on the train, tube and bus stops today to meet the deadline.
I hate to miss the fun, so I am just happy I have something to join those wonderful pieces on the DSFDF site.
I have no explanation for this piece, just wanted a twist to the sushi.

Painters and their paintings I (ANDREW FESTING), Mixed Media on arches watercolour paper, 10" x 12", 2009
This is the first of a new series of works I'll be producing on painters and their paintings.
Now, because this is based on photos I have taken of these artists- I am leaving it open to you to guess who the artist is.
After someone gets it right then I'll post their name in brackets as part of the title. Only then will I complete the reason why I chose the artist and why I like their paintings and put in a link to their site. If it gets hard I will give clues but not for now.
Happy viewing
This was done with a variety of media consisting of graphite, oil base pencil, watercolour, gouache, Biro, pen all on Arches watercolour paper.
ANDREW FESTING
He is one of my best portrait painters, I love his work because of the vitality, sketch like feeling and looseness of his brushstrokes. He always paints from life and would often finish a painting in 2 sittings. He is the Past President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

What I am doing.......Portrait commissions
Some of my regular readers may have been wondering what's up with Adebanji, no posts since Saturday?
Well, I will be posting soon and it would be on the current portrait commissions I am trying to finish. I am working from photos in sepia/ sanguine dust and coloured pencils. I have 4 to complete and it has been a warfare! Somehow I have found myself having to read and re-read all my drawing books to solve the problems I have encountered with this commission and I can't wait to share them with you all. Hope to be through by the weekend. One thing I must confess that has helped me thus far is just believing in myself again, because sometimes failure can bring a lack of confidence and that is the last thing you need when working on drawings.
I also had a great time with my blogging friend, Dominique, her visit has had a profound effect on my life all together. I will be posting shots on their visit to my studio, our tour around the Westend- London Eye and others. Even in the gloom and doom of the society today, some rich relationships and meet ups like the one I had with Dominique can really change ones views about life!
Good news! My sister had a baby girl on Monday!!! She had been married since 2001 and they have had so many miscarriages and one still birth a day after my birthday last year but God had been faithful he provided them with a beautiful angel! I'll be posting on that too.
But for now I am taking a break at the Internet cafe after which I will return to my studio to fight on with my coloured pencils!
Thanks for listening to my ramblings..........
