This is my first sketch of my daughter Kezia (sounds strange), I really struggled with this, as the proportions of a tiny baby are not something I'm used to, but this is the beginning and I 'll learn day by day. It is an acrylic sketch on a self primed Masonite panel.
Here she is only 2 days old and already she is changing.
It really melts my heart looking at her, what a privilege to be responsible for such a wonderful gift.
I have worked this piece with acrylic and Liquitex fluid medium, no water was used to dilute and I cleaned my sable brush throughout the painting with baby wipes.
awe... simply beautiful....
ReplyDeletesuch a wonderful blessing too.. Congratulations again.. !:-)
Thanks Remi!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww....I am so glad that you are starting to paint her immediately. It is amazing how quickly their looks change.

Thanks Annie!
ReplyDeleteAw...such a little beauty :). You truly have been given a great gift, and through the actions of you and your family, I'm sure she'll grow to be a great gift to the world.
ReplyDeleteIn honor of this and you, I won't be my usual evil critic self ;). Instead, if you'd like, I'd rather offer a question or two. Your proportions are nice - what are you concerned about capturing? Is it the relative size of her features? Do you think your son's face would be a good model for scaling down the proportions, since as a child his features are closer than an adult's?
Good work, and may you always be humbled by all the forces that combined to sculpt her out of a part of you :).
I knew it wouldn't be long before we saw a drawing of lovely little Kezia
ReplyDeleteReally nice, Adebanji. Congratulationa, again.
