I haven't really been posted works inspired by my African origin/influence and as I was going through my works today I discovered 2 I painted last year. This one is dedicated to the "not too privileged children" of Nigeria/Africa who, in spite of the adverse situations they face, always in one way or the other find a reason to dance. Sometimes it's because of a plate of food, sunshine, rain, good water to drink or just being kids like we all love to be!
I have done this in my traditional mixed media method using mainly Acrylic then having hints of biro, coloured pencils and wax crayons
Great movements and joY !
ReplyDeleteThanks Dominique, this is the painting Josh and I are working on in the master strokes video.
ReplyDeleteI had to comment on this beautiful piece just because of the dynamic and lovely way you depict the energy of these children. I love the stylized backgroung - I think you should really do more pieces like this. The girls on the far right is my favorite; the way she's positioned in mid-twirl looks very organic, and doesn't feel like a pose at all. The middle child is painted joy, though I wish I can see her right hand better. The last one is the weakest of the lot in my opinion ("weak" being a relative term, of course, since even your "weakest" are some of the best online artwork I've ever seen). The problem is that she seems a little stiff, and out of proportion with the other girls. The background in some whays seems to "bleed over" on to the girls' extremities; if that was intentional, than good, keep it - it really gives the feeling that the girls are enveloped in the background, which adds a lot to the appeal. All in all, again - another masterpiece.
ReplyDeleteThanks once again Spider G, seing everything and leaving nothing. One thing is sure about your anaylsis- it's very straightforward and unbiased!
