Last year I did this post on this piece and I am going to quote exactly what I wrote on that post-
"It was one morning early this month as I was passing through London Bridge, that I caught a sight of this view-It was enchanting- I was only armed with my digital camera - and that was it! One shot and the painting is now done. Sometimes we see places we love but just can't get down to painting them, but this time I made sure this one wasn't going to elude me!"
The exhibition highlights the recent developments in the watercolour medium and would run from 20th Feb 2009- 15th March 2009. at the Bankside Gallery.
The private view is on the 24th of February at 6.30pm(Hope I am sure about this). If you are in London, hope to see you there!

Thanks Larry! It was the light that enchanted me, sometimes all one wants to paint in these scenes is the light. It becomes the primary subject matter, other things secondary
Congratulations Adebanji, Hope to see this one in the Exhibition. I managed to get to last year's. I love to visit London, we went on the Eye and I intend to paint that one day. Love the light and figures in this one. Quick thinking to get a photo just right.

Even though I got the photo right, what really helped me was keeping the mental notes of the scene fresh in my memory and not procastinating when I got home, because that has really hindered me in the past.
I had to smile to myself when you spoke of 'procrastinating'. I'd do a lot more work if I just started something I am thinking about straight away, instead of deferring it until another day. I can always think of an excuse why I don't start painting at that moment, maybe its because once I start I don't want to stop, even to cook dinner!
God bless you Carolann, I think we all have this to deal with. I can't say I have totally overcome this, even now, just doing some portrait commission studies scares me,that's how I feel about most things before I do them.
But when the rewards come in like this one it encourages me and the thing is, we never know which work will bring great rewards. I'll tell you that I submitted 3 works into this exhibition and this was the one I added just to complete the other 2, then my wife convinced me to add this one and here we go.....!

Adebanji, I agree completely with what you say about sometimes all one wants to paint is the light. You certainly got it powerfully done here, and congratulations on this well-deserved honor.
I lived in Purley for 5 years, and London is so engraved in my being - this is so very London. Beautiful work, the lights, colours, movement and most of all the atmosphere. Congrats on your inclusion.
