Triana, 10" X 13", Mixed Media on pastel paper, 2009

This is my entry into Karin Juricks DSFDF. I really liked the reference from the first sight of it! I have done a bit of research on other Diana statues and I added two other ones I liked- that's why I call it TRIANA.

I did this piece with graphite, biro, tom-bow wash pens, white ink, acrylic and wax crayons on light blue pastel paper.

What I tried to create with this piece was an atmosphere that flows with rhythm and sketch-like life to loosen up the rigidity that statues portray.

Adebanji,
You definitely achieved flow. Interesting the two Diana statues are archers. While I was painting the reference photo I felt that she was drawing back an arrow to a bow. I wonder if the sculptor changed his mind along the way?

Your lines are very graceful and delicate in this piece.

Thanks Alice!!!

You might be right about that because almost all reference statues I saw, had her with bows.

What a fabulous piece Adebanji, I love the movement it has and the great composition with the 3 girls. The buck is a nice added detail. Your white highlights bring everything into place.
Blazing hot and wonderful !

Okay, so I'm thinking is Banji going to have Josh in this challenge too? I am so impressed with your work. It is truly like I'm viewing the work of the Masters. [bowing in reverence.....]

You are close and right Sheila, I almost did add Josh as a flying angel but then............maybe next time

Thanks for the blog visit, Adebanji. I love what you did with Diana. You turned a solid statue into a piece with movement--kind of like a work of music!

Beautiful ! You are so creative, you always have an original take on the DSDF. It's incredible how you've made this look both very classic and very modern, and... so alive, with such a graceful flow ! They are statues, and yet...
