Back from Windsor, I decided to take on London and it's always going to be a test with the people, the unstable weather and the sheer courage it takes to set up and paint in this city, but I'm up for it and you'll be seeing more of London or anywhere I can park my myself in the UK with my pochade box!
Morning Light, Albert Bridge, 6" x 8", Oil on Gessoed card, 2010
It was the morning and the sky was sort of white but the sun was rising in its warmth. I climbed on top of a container used for lodging work men's storage around Battersea Bridge and I caught this scene.
That's me high on top!
I've used a bit more diluted paint here because of some delicate details but again I enjoyed the sheer pleasure of working Alla Prima!

adebanji,
That's a nice painting of Albert Bridge. Will you be doing more oils and less sketching?
I'm into water colours... what do you think of them?
Ray
Thanks Ray, I regard these as Oil Sketches but that is not to say the sketching of people will stop, you'll still see the sketching go side by side the oil sketches. I'll check out your watercolours, that's something I'll so on this scale too!
Lovely scene with great atmosphere. All these little pieces done with your Pochade box are so delightful and beautiful. Thanks for showing us how you are doing it. I appreciate seeing the photo of the site you are painting and including the pics of you in action. You post it is oil on Gessoed card, Is it just a watercolor paper you've gessoed or something else ?
Thanks for the nice comments on my blog Adebanji.
Blessings to you.
Thanks Dominique, I have gessoed something called Millboard, its grey in colour and it's of the thickness of Picture mounting boards. I gesso them front and back. Cheers Dominique- that oil was a knockout!
These are real jewels, can't wait to see more!
Thanks Dana! More are coming, a lot lot more....and I hope you don't tire of them soon!
No matter where you paint or who you paint or what you paint Adebanji, it will be beautiful!!!
Thanks Marian, but because that is more prophetic, I'll need to say a hearty, "AMEN" to that!
SKIZO- it is true! The artists and Illustrators make the world Beautiful! Looking at some work just makes me smile!
Very inspiring blog... your plein air paintings are wonderful and atmospheric, especially this one!
Thanks Stephan!
Thanks Adebanji
I haven't got too many paintings on my blog, being a relative beginner, but if you click onto the label 'art,' you will see what is there.
