Sanguinely Spirited

This is an energetic drawing of my good old friend "Punk Alan". We have had the best and the worst of times but we still are the best of mates. We play pool and nobody ever wants to loose, that sets the tempo high and we begin to fly...........
This was done with Pastel dust (Creta Color Sanguine powder) and Coloured pencils (Lyra Skin tone chunky coloured pencils).

It was done on a heavy watercolour paper 20" x 24".

This is a tribute to the Legend Pool player!

Sketch of my arist friend "Yinka"

I made friends with an artist yesterday. We made contacts over the internet and she came to visit my studio. Before she left, she requested I do a quick sketch of her. This sketch about 15-20mins, she was quite pleased with the result.

I have used a lyra brown skin tone chunky coloured pencil here on an 11" x 14" paper from a daler rowney sketchbook of 110 sheets.

My main focus in this sketch was not actually to get a striking resemblance but a quick balance of tonal values and gesture.

abbey wood park landscape studies (1hour each)

I got into the mood of landsacpes after catching some inspiration form Kevin Macphersons' book on "landscape painting inside and out". I got into doing these 3 landscape studies for approximately an hour each. I also tried to follow Ken Howards' rule of not painting on one piece outside for more than an hour because the light changes.

"Duet" Watercolour study

I got down to do this study, a plan for a larger painting.It seems I am enjoying the watercolours again. You can see how I completed this step by step on my blog with winsor and newton.

Day Dreaming

I recently, have decided to get back into my watercolours and this time again I still cannot keep it as a pure watercolour. This turns out to be a mixed media work with chalk pastels, wax crayons and coloured pencils involved. I was particularly pleased with the outcome which wasn't quite what I planned to have it as, but when it came to the time to stop I had to hide the work before it got detailed with further destruction.

I will be showing how I worked out this piece from the beginning to the end on my blog via my blog with winsor and newton.

Topsie Topsie

I got to do this sketch from pictures I took of one of my senior friends, Topsie Topsie, we went through a series of changes. It seems he was happier with the version before the changes. I seem to be happier with this. We both settled for this in the end. I used mostly HB graphite pencil on Cartridge Paper

Portrait of a Strong man

I never cease to wonder how this guy remains happy everyday. Although in this sketch he is not smiling but he is one miracle!

Tribute to the gone

My friend at work had this only picture of this 16 year old she died last year and she wanted to have her drawing done for memories. I'll say no more!

SKETCH OF MY ITALIAN FRIEND

He has been on my back for a while and just before he decided to cut his beard he got me to sketch him. It took 30 minutes, he was kind of sleepy during the sitting, but it came out fine. I used black and brown coloured pencils on an A4 sheet of catridge paper.
