OPERATE IN YOUR ELEMENT IN 2015!!

Do what I love most-Sketching and Sharing.

The Experience, The Fun, The Passion, The Desire-It's always a different ball game when we do what we were CREATED to do, when we do what we were WIRED to do.....
Let me explain, the week I did this learning session, I pulled my back muscle around my waist, it was so bad, I had to stay at home, I was wondering as the Sketching Workshop was approaching, "How am I going to cope?"

Addressing the crew, ready to fly!!

I couldn't sit down for long....the pain was excruciating!

Then Saturday the 6th of September came and I managed to go to the Workshop. I'm not kidding.....immediately I saw the people all lined up waiting for the session....The back ache vanished and from 11.30 to 17.30- I searched for the pain, tried to touch where it was hurting but to no avail. The pain took its flight. I enjoyed the workshop-without any aches or pains. It was a fantastic day!

The Workshop in progress , answering questions.

Now, you won't believe it, I got home that evening and the back ache whispered to me....."I'm still here ooo, can you feel me?" I felt the pain again......

Showing a few tips, while sketching is in progress

But while in my element-SKETCHING and SHARING-I didn't feel a thing!

Picture of one of the demos taken by Gareth Jones

I can't explain it! Some call it Adrenaline, Some call it Inspiration.

All I would say is this, "May God help us all to have the courage and boldness to go out and live what we dreamed to be, without any fears or limitations! Because it is the pure work of the enemy to get us trapped in a life, in a job, in a box that was never ours to be in. God's design for us was to operate in our element....When in our element-we glorify God at the highest level and our lives are far more enjoyable"

Sitting o  the floor and doing the demo at Covent Garden

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."-Ephesians 2:10 KJV

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."-Ephesians 2:10 NIV

"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."-Ephesians 2:10 NLT

"For we are his creatures who are created in Yeshua The Messiah for good works, those things which God had from the first prepared that we should walk in them."-Aramic Bible in Plain English

So there must have been an INITIAL DESIGN PLANNED BY GOD, A DESIGN planned BEFORE, long BEFORE we were BORN.

It is my prayer that you never rest until you DISCOVER THAT MASTER PLAN, and when you discover it, TO HAVE THE COURAGE AND BOLDNESS TO LIVE IT!

Thanks Oh Lord for the way you made me!

A Dio sia la gloria

The Playground Slide, Westfield Park (14) Chelsea Marathon

Here is number 14 of my current series of paintings and drawings of Chelsea.

This place is really familiar to me! I have taken my kids there many times to play and I normally pass through the Park everyday while walking from Chelsea World's End Health Centre to my Studio.

The Playground Slide, Westfield Park (14) Chelsea Marathon, Mixed Media on paper, 10" x 8"

I looked at it this week with the corner of my eye, especially at this particular slide and I thought it looked really interesting with the foliage in the background, so I got out to sketch it on coloured paper, somethiong different from my other drawings in this series of work.

I wanted it to have somewhat of a playful childlike feeling and I was happy with the finished piece.

Picture of the Scene

While drawing some students of a near by Primary School all came over to have look, they had just finished their STATS and were playing on the ground. One girl spotted me, was bold enough to ask a few questions and then she got all of her friends over to watch me draw, their teacher had to come to rescue after a while, as I couldn't see the subject due to their crowding.

I have used different shades of Oil Base Pencils, some washes with charcoal dust and graphite to execute this on pastel paper.

Heatherley's School of Fine Art (8) Chelsea Marathon, 10" x 8", Graphite on paper

This is number 8, of my current series of drawings and paintings of Chelsea, they are all 10" x 8" in size.

I chose this because this was school that changed my perception of art! Great Tutors and a fantastic environment to study with amazing students all willing to reach their aspirations!

I sketched this from the corner of Burnaby Street and the light kept changing on a windy Saturday morning.

Just when I had finished the drawing

I  have always loved architecture and this was another opportunity to enjoy the effect of light and shade on Architecture. I love what light does on buildings at different times of the day!

SPECIAL QUOTE
" I don't get bogged down with perspective, I never have, if there's something that makes me enjoy drawing outdoors, it's just the scratching of the graphite on paper and the mark making!"- Adebanji Alade

Discovering The City of York ( Part 3- The paintings and sketches complete)

This is the third  part about my discovery of York and very soon I'll be having the exhibition of the paintings and sketches I produced at York. The exhibition starts today at 6pm.

Ann Petherick, who runs the gallery will be having a civic party with The Lord Mayor, Councillor Julie Gunnell. I'm excited and I have really been looking forward to this!

Now, back to the final part of my paintings  and sketches of York. I'll be sharing the sketches or paintings, the location and a picture of me doing the job and a few ramblings. I hope you enjoy them!

These remaining works make it all complete-for the mini exhibition tonight I have 10 plein air paintings and 5 sketches.

All the paintings are 8" x 10" and all the sketches are 11" x 8" (A4 sized)

6. Sketch-River Ouse and Lendal Bridge from Park Inn Hotel Cafe.

I had to find shelter as the rains were coming down this morning at York. Ann advised me to go to the hotel by the river on the first floor, I did! It was a great view!!

7. Grey Evening, Goodramgate York

The rains continued all day and towards the evening when it stopped, everywhere was grey and I wasn't sure that there wouldn't be another down pour, so I found shelter to paint Goodramgate.

8. The Back Garden at The Bar Convent, Micklegate

Oh this was a mini paradise in York! Really loved the Nuns that worked there. they really made me comfortable and when that happens, the painting gains some comfort too! I just loved the morning light on this day!

9. The Altar Piece in the Convent Chapel

There was a story to this chapel. I was told when Catholics were being persecuted, the Nuns preserved this place within the building so that it didn't look like a chapel from the outside but inside they did their service! A beautiful place!!! I just sat there in silence and I could hear every stroke my pencil made!

10.  The road that leads to the Minister, Duncombe Place.

I had to paint the Minster one way or the other but while I visited the place had scaffolding on it, I had to take a place that was least affected, the trees helped with the rest.

11. Morning Light on The York City Walls

How could I ever miss painting on the City walls. The morning light was pouring through and the trees just stood there, bathing in the sunshine, begging to be painted, I had to oblige!

This posed as a great challenge, but I love challenges and I took on the railway station from the top of the City walls! I was basically baked in the sun!!! Thank God I had some water with me!!!
