Painting of Diana( Stage 4) This seems to be the final stage

I got in 3 valuable hours today and this might be the final. I don't think I'll be taking this on again because it got to the stage where I said all what I wanted to say at the beginning of the painting. It was all about her hair and that has been achieved! This is one model I would continue to paint as far as she is available. Very professional and has a charming personality too.

While painting this final stage, I found it hard while looking into her face to figure out whether she was unhappy, thinking deeply, concentrating, lost in thoughts or just gazing into the midst.........All can say is she has a very deep personality-I tried to capture part of that but it didn't overrule the impact of her hair. Which is what this piece is all about.

It was done over 4 sittings of 3 hours each and with oil on a 20" x 24" linen canvas.

I really like this and all its iterations. It seems that the hair got bigger and bigger as you went along!

Thanks Carolyn! You are right, I think she revealed more and more as the poses went by.

Excellent...and the hair is, indeed the crowning touch. If you achieved what you set out to achieve, you have succeeded. I sometimes think I've succeeded when I can just get the paint from the brush to the canvas. Thanks for the nice comments. As an afterthought, and this is NOT a criticism...but I would have liked to see you have left a little color in the background...maybe a light beige at the bottom, working up to an almost white at the top. I printed out this final rendition and played around with it, doing that, and it seemed to make the whole piece three dimensional. But, as it is, it is marvelous.

Thanks James, I am very grateful for your depth, insight and keen eyes. Please if you don't mind forward the colour version you played around with, because I believe no knowlegde is lost. It might inspire me to retouch or most likely to use it as a spring-board for a future sitting because I am bound to paint this model again and again in different clothes and lighting!

What a beautiful transformation! Do you have a title for this painting? Maybe something about her beautiful black hair and white dress. :)

Thanks Akiko, I'll need to give it a good thout now because I just thought I would call it Diana I, since I'll still do more of her in the future.
